Amazing Cultivation Simulator Golden Core Guide: How to Get a Tier 1 Core (1.26)

Amazing Cultivation Simulator header art

The Golden Core is one of the biggest steps a disciple will take in Amazing Cultivation Simulator. It always succeeds, but the grade it forms with will stay with that disciple for good and shape their Max Qi and their odds at every rolled breakthrough that follows.

The grade comes out of a score that builds up while the core forms. Max Qi decides how long it builds, while Law Match, Luck, Mental State, the Qi and element of the disciple’s tile and the timing (season, time of day and weather) decide how fast it grows. A final score of 145,000 or more is grade 1, the best grade the game hands out.

Most numbers in this guide were read from the code of the current Steam build, version 1.26.

How the Golden Core grade works

Forming a Golden Core cannot fail. The core always forms, and what you are really playing for is the grade, which runs from 1 (the best) to 9 (the worst). The final score of the run decides it. Grade 1 needs 145,000, grade 2 needs 85,000, grade 3 needs 55,000 and grade 4 needs 40,000, followed by 30,000, 21,000, 13,000 and 6,000 for grades 5 to 8. Anything lower is grade 9, and a score of exactly 145,000 already counts as grade 1.

Base Max Qi is shown at each cut-off; every extra point of score adds 0.015 more, and % Max Qi bonuses multiply it later. The multiplier only hits breakthroughs that roll a success chance, not tribulations.

The breakthrough window will predict the grade before you start (“3Quality”, or “Unknown” in Real mode), the info panel will show “Tier 3 Golden Core” with the live score while it forms, and the cultivation panel shows the final grade as a Roman numeral.

Tier 0

Tier 0 is the community name for a grade 1 core of 300,000 or more. It lights up the “Golden core Tier 0” goal in the Dominations window, and the disciple’s title event will name them “Spiritualist …” with the line “Supreme core shaping, this is the cream of the crop!”

Nothing else changes. The core still shows grade I with the same breakthrough odds as any other grade 1, and the extra score only adds Max Qi. Past 145,000 the core also slows down, growing at half speed at 200,000 and at a third at 300,000, which is why the 300,000 line needs about 3.4 times the raw score of a bare grade 1.

How much Max Qi you need

Max Qi does not make the core grow faster. It decides how long the core grows. Your disciple will burn 30 Qi per second during the breakthrough, or 18,000 Qi per in-game day, until the bar is empty, which means 15,000 Max Qi will give you about 20 in-game hours of growth.

Below 145,000, the final score is simply the growth rate multiplied by Max Qi divided by 30. Doubling Max Qi therefore does exactly as much as doubling the rate, for example by going from a Stable to a Pristine Mental State. Max Qi is still the main lever, because it is the one factor without a ceiling.

There is no single “Max Qi for grade 1” number as a result, and the table uses three setups:

  • Neutral means no preparation at all, with no tile Qi, 100% Law Match, a Stable Mental State and no help from Luck, light, weather, season or element.
  • A typical first core has 1,000 tile Qi from a basic feeder array, 110% Law Match with a Forming Pill, Luck 5, Harmony, a pure law-element spot and a date a few days from the peak season day.
  • A strong setup has 2,000 tile Qi, 130% Law Match, Luck 7, Pristine, a feeder-heavy spot, the peak season day, the element’s best storm all run and a start time that keeps most of the run in good light.

Typical first core: 1,000 tile Qi, 110% Law Match, Luck 5, Harmony mind, pure law-element spot, season x1.15. Strong setup: 2,000 tile Qi, 130% Law Match, Luck 7, Pristine mind, feeder spot (x1.5), peak season day, an x1.4 weather all run, start timed for the good hours.

Max Qi needed per Golden Core grade for three setups (gamerofpassion.com).

Without any help, grade 1 would take 145,000 Max Qi, which no first-generation disciple is going to have. A typical first-core setup brings that down to about 31,000 and grade 3 to just under 12,000, and fully prepared, you will need only about 6,000 to 10,000 Max Qi for grade 1. For reference, 15,000 Max Qi will land around grade 7 with no preparation, grade 3 with a typical setup and grade 1 with a strong one.

The 300,000 line needs roughly 20,000 to 32,000 Max Qi with an excellent setup, and refined T12 medicine is simply the easiest way to get there.

Everything that changes the score

Every second of the run, the core gains a base of 30 points plus 1 point for every 50 Qi on the disciple’s tile. That base is then multiplied by Law Match, Luck, Mental State, light (the Yin Yang row), weather, season and the element of the tile. Because all of these multiply, one bad factor will drag the whole score down.

FactorRange in the scoreHow to max it
Max Qi (run length)No ceiling: the run lasts Max Qi / 30 secondsManuals and medicine (highest tier first); start at 100%

Law Matchx0.5 minimum; -20% per missing attribute pointMeet every need (+25%), +4% per extra point, Forming Pill
Luckx0.8 (Luck 0) to x1.55 (Luck 10, the cap)Blessed Pill: +30% Luck for 48 hours

Weatherx0.6 to x1.5; stacked kinds cap at x1.6Your element’s x1.4 weather; recast it when it ends
Yin Yang (time of day)x0.8 to x1.4 under a normal skyFire/Wood: day. Metal/Water: night. Earth/none: dusk, dawn
Feng shui, Cozy, Qi regenNo effectIgnore; Spirit Stones only top up Qi before the start
All factors multiply each other, and the game re-reads them every moment of the run. Lamps and roofs do not change Yin Yang.

The breakthrough window shows these as pips, but they are only a rough guide. A Mental State pip stands for 0.2 and a Season pip for only 0.06, and the “Law” row is your disciple’s Law Match, which has nothing to do with the room.

Room and sect Feng Shui, Cozy, Mood, Qi regeneration, virtue, equipped artifacts and the difficulty setting are not in the formula at all. Lamps and roofs will not change the light factor either, since the core reads the light of the sky.

Mental State

Mental State is the biggest single multiplier you can control. Pristine (95 or more) doubles the core, Harmony (85 to 95) gives x1.5, Composed (70 to 85) gives x1.2 and Stable (50 to 70) leaves it alone, while Unstable and Breakdown cut it to 60% and 30%. Going above 100 adds nothing.

During the run, a Mental State between 50 and 100 should stay where it is, while anything above 100 drains back to just under 100 within a few hours, which makes a talisman that pushes the disciple to 130 only a safety margin. Avoid short-lived boosts like the Purity Pill (+15 for a day) and the Purity Leaf (+4 for half a day), because a drop below 95 leaves the rest of the run at x1.5 or less. Mood is not in the formula at all, although a good mood helps the disciple reach 95 in the first place.

Law Match

Law Match compares the disciple’s attributes with what the law asks for, and 110% simply means x1.1 on the score. Each missing attribute point costs 20%, each point of surplus adds 4%, and clearing the last shortfall adds another 25% on top. If you are still picking a law for a disciple, have a look at the Amazing Cultivation Simulator laws guide.

Stat pills work through Law Match and Luck, and they will only help while they last. The Forming Pill gives +30% Perception, Constitution and Intelligence for 48 hours, which covers a breakthrough of up to 36,000 Max Qi, and the Heavenly, Earthly, Ether, Wisdom and Blessed Pills give +30% to one attribute each at the cost of 3 years of life. Attributes stop at 10, which makes a pill nearly useless for a stat that is already close to 10.

Qi on the tile

Every 50 Qi on the disciple’s tile adds 1 to the base of 30 per second, which means 1,500 Qi doubles the score and 2,500 Qi makes it 2.67 times as high. The Qi Bonus pips stop at +5 once the spot holds about 450 Qi, but the core will keep counting every point beyond that, up to a practical ceiling of around 2,500, where stored tile Qi drains back quickly unless something keeps refilling it. A Burst of Qi or a Qi Tide adds another 300 to 400 Qi to every tile while it lasts.

Luck

Luck multiplies the core by 0.8 + 0.075 x Luck, which is x1.18 at Luck 5 and x1.55 at the cap of 10, and a Blessed Pill can add at most about 13% because Luck stops at 10. Once the law’s attribute needs are met, a point of Luck is worth almost twice a surplus point on a needed attribute, as it adds 7.5 points to the Luck factor against 4 points of Law Match.

Preparing for the breakthrough

Most of the work happens before you press the button. Run through this list before every Golden Core:

  • Learn every Max Qi manual you can get, including those of other laws you are able to transcribe.
  • Eat your Max Qi medicine days in advance, with the highest tier of each medicine first.
  • Refill the Qi bar to 100% afterwards, for example with a Spirit Crystal (20,000 Qi). The button already works at 99%, but every missing point of Qi is missing score.
  • Get the disciple to a Mental State of 95 or more with a few days in Mind mode, then equip any Mental State talisman right before the start.
  • Eat a Forming Pill and any other stat pills right before the start.
  • Use a Blessed Pill for Luck if you can spare 3 years of life.
  • Finish the spot at least 5 days early, with the feeding element around the seat and as much tile Qi as you can get.
  • Make sure nothing can reach the disciple, because a disciple forming a core will not defend themselves.

Max Qi sources

Counted from 5, base Max Qi grows by 3% for every whole point of Constitution or Intelligence and by 0.8% for every whole point of Perception. Each Qi Sense level is worth another 2.4%, and the regular % Max Qi bonuses you collect later, from manuals and the law’s stages, multiply that base. The breakthrough into Core Shaping adds +250% on every base-game law except Six Paths Reincarnation. Among the manuals, Elemental Origins (Jade Purity) and Reformed Lifeblood (Heaven Stealing, which also injures the heart) give +100% each, and The Compass Doctrine (Grand Chariot) and Skyfire Meridians (True Sun) give +75%.

Medicine will add a large share on top of that. Each medicine keeps its own resistance per item type, and every dose shrinks the next one’s effect:

  • Earth Flux gives +50% base Max Qi at its normal tier 8 and +103.7% at T12. The second dose gives only a tenth of the first, which makes two the practical maximum.
  • Red Ginseng and Ganoderma give +100 Max Qi each at tier 6 and lose 35% per dose. Ten or eleven of each will get you to 99% of what they can give.
  • Wicked Flux gives +30% Max Qi, or 62% at T12, for 10 base Mental State and barely builds resistance.
  • Only the tier 9 Junk Pill raises Max Qi, by +10% base Max Qi for the first one a disciple eats, and it costs 20 years of life and burns the organs. The other Junk Pills give no Max Qi.

Order does not matter between different medicines. Within one medicine, however, eat the highest tier first, because each refined tier adds 20% only to whatever effect the resistance has left. A T12 Earth Flux eaten after a normal one keeps only a tenth of its bonus.

The breakthrough spot

The score only reads the tile under the disciple. Surround that seat with the element that feeds your law and keep the element that overcomes it away:

  • Fire is fed by Wood and overcome by Water.
  • Water is fed by Metal and overcome by Earth.
  • Wood is fed by Water and overcome by Metal.
  • Metal is fed by Earth and overcome by Fire.
  • Earth is fed by Fire and overcome by Wood.

A pure law-element tile tops out at x1.25, and only a feeder-heavy tile with an element power of 1.85 or more reaches x1.5. A single Igneocopper Bar wall next to a Metal seat is enough to drop it from x1.5 to x1.1. Element-less laws can skip this part.

Auras pass through walls, and gather items need 5 in-game days to reach full strength, with every new or moved gather item restarting that climb for every tile it reaches. The Qi Cushion’s material does not matter, since the cushion adds no element, and you can start the core on the cushion the disciple already sits on. The full setup is in the cultivation room guide.

Best time to start

Season, time of day and weather are re-read every moment of the run and multiply each other. None of them is a requirement, but together they will make a big difference to the grade.

Season

Each elemental law has one peak day per year at x1.3, and Metal has four. Fire peaks on Spring Day 11, Earth on Summer Day 11, Water on Autumn Day 11, Wood on Winter Day 11 and Metal on Day 25 of every season. The bonus changes a little every day at midnight, which makes the days around the peak almost as good, and Fire, for example, stays at x1.2 or better from Spring Day 8 to Day 14. The worst day for each element is x0.7.

None (Jade Purity Immortal, Primordial Symbols)x1.0 all yearn/an/a
Days as the in-game calendar shows them; the bonus changes once a day at midnight. For a run of several days, start a few days early so the peak falls mid-run.

An easy way to remember it is that the season’s element feeds your law. Spring wood feeds Fire, summer fire feeds Earth, autumn metal feeds Water, winter water feeds Wood, and the earthy end of each season feeds Metal. Element-less laws ignore the season completely.

For runs of several days, start a few days before the peak so that it falls in the middle of the run. That being said, do not stall your sect for weeks to hit the perfect day.

Time of day

The Yin Yang row is read every moment, and what counts is how much of the run sits in your element’s good light. Fire and Wood like full daylight (x1.2, against x0.84 at night), and Metal and Water like full darkness (x1.16, against x0.8 by day). Earth and element-less laws peak at x1.4 in the short dawn and dusk twilight and do slightly better at night than by day.

  • A short core of under about 6,000 Max Qi lasts less than 8 hours. Start it inside the window, which means Fire and Wood once full daylight is up, Metal and Water at nightfall, and Earth or element-less laws an hour or two before a twilight.
  • A core of 10,000 to 15,000 Max Qi lasts roughly 13 to 20 hours. Start it so the whole good block fits inside the run, with Fire and Wood just before dawn, Metal and Water in the late afternoon and Earth or element-less laws before dusk.
  • Above about 18,000 Max Qi, the run lasts more than a day and the start hour changes the result by less than 8%. Spend your effort on season, weather and tile Qi instead.

Outside Nimbus Conquest, whether the good stretch comes early or late in the run makes no difference. Full daylight on Spring Day 11 lasts from about 07:45 to 17:45. Compared with that day, dawn comes an hour or more earlier and dusk an hour or more later in summer, while in winter both move about half an hour toward midday.

Weather

The best regular weather gives x1.4. That is Rainstorm for Wood, Noxious Air (Toxic Miasma) for Fire, Foehn Wind for Earth, Dust Devil for Metal and Thunderstorm for Water. Polar Night also gives Metal and Water x1.4 and keeps it dark all day.

Any elemental lawAir of Cultivation x1.5, +300 tile Qiany season; 9 days, from an ascended immortal with Protectn/a
A cast storm lasts 7 to 19 hours, and recasting does not add to the time that is left. Weathers of different kinds stack up to x1.6. Clear Skies gives Wood and Water nothing.

A Rainstorm dims the sky and costs Wood some of its daylight bonus, but it is still a clear win. The storms are also tied to seasons, with Noxious Air in spring and summer, Thunderstorm and Foehn Wind in summer and autumn, Rainstorm in summer and winter and Dust Devil in spring and winter, which is why you will want to plan the date and the weather together.

A cast lasts only 7 to 19 hours, and recasting does not add to it. A new cast only replaces the time that is left when its own roll runs longer. A long breakthrough is going to need a second cast, timed for when the first one is about to run out.

If your sect has an ascended immortal whose law has the Protect skill (Myriad Artifact, Seven-Slaughtering Sword, Heaven Stealing, Grand Chariot, Six Paths, Sunflower or Primordial Symbols), Protect costs 9 Incense and gives you Air of Cultivation, with x1.5 for every elemental law and +300 Qi on every tile for 9 days. Another weather cast on top of it still counts, up to the game’s cap of x1.6.

Element-less laws want Cloudy weather by day, which gives x1.1 and dims the sky toward their x1.4 Yin Yang peak, while Clear Skies only helps them at night. Earth laws get Foehn Wind (x1.4) in summer and autumn and Dust Devil in spring and winter, which gives x1.2 plus a dimmed sky worth up to x1.68 at noon.

During the run

Once the core starts forming, the disciple stops drawing Qi from the room and will burn 30 Qi per second until the bar is empty. Qi-recovery pills, regeneration manuals, Spirit Stones and Spirit Crystals will not raise the score, because Qi recovery is not part of the formula. The “Advanced Qi Resonance” buff from Spirit Stones and Crystals only boosts recovery and cultivation speed.

The disciple will not fight back and cannot be healed by other disciples’ spells. Treat an early stop as final, because a knockout, a bad injury or pulling the disciple off the job ends the run and forms the core with the score it had reached so far. Do not stop a run that is still climbing, even past 145,000 or 300,000, and do not order the disciple to eat or do anything else mid-run.

There is one lucky break, the Core Shaping Epiphany. Once per attempt it can refill the Qi bar partway through, up to 50,000 Qi and never past Max Qi, which makes that run between 1.1 and 1.9 times as long, depending on when it fires. It is rare, at about 3% at most, and only disciples the game counts as your favourites qualify, which are the ones you click on most. Feng Shui, trees in the room and Luck do not change the odds.

The grade in the breakthrough window is only a snapshot of the rate right now multiplied by your full Max Qi. Use it to compare spots and start times, and expect it to be off by a grade when the run crosses night and day, the weather changes or a buff runs out.

What the grade does afterwards

Forming the core adds 1.5% of the final score to the disciple’s base Max Qi. A bare grade 1 at 145,000 gives +2,175, and a 194,000 core gives about +2,910. Because it is base Max Qi, the % Max Qi bonuses from manuals, Wicked Flux and the law’s stages multiply it later (the % base Max Qi from Earth Flux and Junk Pills does not), and the Golden Core stage itself adds +600% Max Qi on 11 of the 12 base laws. In one logged Six Paths run, a 194,341 core took the disciple from 15,105 to 23,549 Max Qi. Max Qi grows with the exact score and not with the grade, which means two grade 1 cores can end up far apart.

On 11 of the 12 base laws, every core gives +30 years of lifespan whatever the grade, while the Six Paths Reincarnation core gives none. The grade sets the mood the disciple gets (High-grade Golden Core for grades 1 to 3, Mid-grade Golden Core for 4 to 6) and how good a title the “Maturity” event can give them, but it does not gate recipes, crafting tiers, miracles or skill tree nodes. Once formed, the grade never changes in normal play.

Later breakthrough odds

The grade’s lasting job is to scale every later breakthrough that rolls a success chance. In the Golden Core realm, grades 1 to 3 make those rolls 1.5 times as likely, grades 4 to 6 leave them alone, and grades 7 to 9 cut them to 0.2 to 0.3 times. From the Primordial Spirit realm on, only grades 1 and 2 keep full odds, while the lower grades cut them hard. Tribulations ignore the grade, and so does Seven-Slaughtering Sword, which has no rolled breakthroughs after the core. A score above 145,000 does not raise the odds any further.

A realistic first core

Most players treat grade 3 or 4 as a perfectly good first core, and I would say that is a sensible target. Your first Golden Core disciple has a lot of work ahead, from weather miracles to everything that makes the next generation’s cores easier. If you plan to take this disciple deep into the Primordial Spirit realm, though, grade 2 or better is the only range that keeps full odds there.

Law-specific notes

Seven-Slaughtering Sword

Seven-Slaughtering Sword cannot start its Golden Core without a Blade Pill, and the pill is used up when the attempt begins. The recipe is in the law’s manual Seven-Slaughtering Form and costs 99 Iron Ore, 99 Igneocopper Ore and 99 Ice Crystal Ore, and Blade Pills also turn up at auctions. The pill is only an entry ticket and has no effect on the score.

Primordial Alchemy

Primordial Alchemy needs one Cure Powder instead. A batch of the recipe makes three, and like the Blade Pill, it does nothing for the score.

Six Paths Reincarnation

Six Paths front-loads +450% Max Qi early, then drops 150% at its last breakthrough before the core, which is about -1,500 Max Qi on a disciple with 1,000 base Max Qi. At the Golden Core it loses another 300%, where the other base laws gain 600%. You will reach the breakthrough with less Max Qi than you had one breakthrough earlier.

Nimbus Conquest

The DLC law Nimbus Conquest grows two cores in one run. The Yang core is graded as Fire and grows in daylight, and the Yin core is graded as Water and grows in the dark. Qi on the tile feeds both all the time, and each core gets its own element’s season, weather and room bonus. The weaker core sets the grade the game uses, and in spring with Noxious Air that is almost always the Yin core.

A spring run with Noxious Air works when tile Qi is very high, but Autumn Day 11 with a Thunderstorm balances the two cores better. In spring, a morning start also helps the Yin core, since a quirk in the grade 1 slowdown speeds up a small Yin core once the Yang core passes grade 1.

Element-less laws

Jade Purity and Primordial Symbols ignore season and room element, which costs them two of the biggest environment bonuses. At best they get about x1.4 from Yin Yang and weather, against roughly x3 for an elemental law at its peak.

They still reach grade 1 the normal way. With 15,000 Max Qi, 2,000 Qi on the tile, 125% Law Match, Luck 7, a Pristine Mental State and Cloudy weather, a Jade Purity disciple gets just past 145,000, and the 300,000 line takes roughly 47,500 Max Qi with the same setup. Time the run around dawn or dusk.

Common mistakes

  • Aiming for the wrong number. Grade 1 starts at 145,000, and the 150,000, 170,000 and 250,000 figures that keep coming up are either rounded or wrong.
  • Stopping the run at 145,000 or 300,000. Every extra point turns into Max Qi.
  • Building the room for Feng Shui. Neither the room’s rating nor the sect’s is in the formula, and walls do not shield the disciple from season or weather.
  • Casting Clear Skies for every law. Wood and Water get nothing from it, and element-less and Earth laws lose out by day because of the brighter sky.
  • Eating Qi regeneration pills or Spirit Stones for the score. They only help to refill the bar before the start.
  • Putting Fire items in a Metal room. Fire overcomes Metal and can drag a top-step tile down to x1.1.
  • Pairing hot and cold breakthrough spots to balance the temperature. Temperature does not affect the core, and the items leak through the walls into the other seat.

FAQ

Can the Golden Core breakthrough fail?

No. The core always forms, and the only question is the grade. If the run is interrupted, expect the core to form early with the score it had reached at that point.

How long does the Golden Core breakthrough take?

It lasts Max Qi divided by 30 seconds of game time, at 600 seconds per in-game day. That works out to about 8 hours for 6,000 Max Qi, a day and two thirds for 30,000 and about three days for 55,000.

Is there a Golden Core calculator?

The math is simple enough to do by hand. Multiply the base of 30 plus your tile Qi divided by 50 by each factor, then multiply that by Max Qi divided by 30, keeping in mind that the slowdown pulls results above 145,000 lower. The Fandom wiki’s Golden Core Breakthrough page also links an online calculator if you want every factor in one place.

Conclusion

The Golden Core is a lot less random than the estimate in the breakthrough window makes it look. With a Pristine Mental State, Max Qi medicine eaten in the right order, a feeder-element seat full of Qi and a start timed for your element, a disciple will reach a high grade without huge amounts of Max Qi. If this is your first core, grade 3 or 4 is a fine result, and the next generation should have a much easier time getting to grade 1.
