Gothic 2: Night of the Raven Build Planner

Plan where your learning points go as a Paladin, Dragonhunter or Fire Mage, with every permanent bonus your guild can get and the 25 King’s Sorrel split however you like.

1. Guild (permanent, chosen once)

Paladin
Dragonhunter (Mercenary path)
Fire Mage
You can’t switch guilds later, and your guild decides which prayer and quest bonuses you can get.

2. Weapon loadout

3. Targets

4. King’s Sorrel Allocation (shared elixir resource, 25 total in the game)

Every brewed Strength/Dexterity/Mana/Life elixir needs 1 King’s Sorrel each, and there are only 25 in the entire game. All four sliders below draw from that same shared pool and are capped so the total can never exceed 25. Dragging one only ever adjusts itself, never the others.

Goblin Berry total = 17 guaranteed (found/bought) + Paladin loot below. The “eaten raw” sliders are read-only, they always show whatever’s left after brewing.
0
On top of the 17 guaranteed found/bought Goblin Berries. Beating up/looting every Paladin in the game can theoretically yield up to 20 more, but this is random per save. This expands the Goblin Berry sliders above.

5. Variable/looted bonuses (set to guaranteed minimum by default)

How much of this you get depends on how much you loot. The sliders start at the amount you are guaranteed to get, so only raise them if you actually plan to farm.
75
75 is the guaranteed purchasable minimum (+3 Strength). Up to 175 if you loot every NPC/bandit inventory in the game (+7 Strength). Every 25 apples = +1 Strength.
0
Not guaranteed at all, purely a foraging/loot bonus. Up to ~500 exist across Khorinis (180), the Valley (90), and Jharkendar (230). Every 50 mushrooms = +5 Mana.

7. Elixir Recipes & Guild Skills

Hunting / Trophy Skills (all optional, mostly flavor + gold)
No build needs these. They mostly bring in gold. The one I would always take as a Mercenary/Dragonhunter is Shadow Beast Horns, because the quest behind it gives a lot of XP.

This link saves every choice above (guild, weapons, targets, herbs, spells and skills). Post it on Reddit, a forum or Discord, and whoever opens it sees exactly your build.

9. Per-stat breakdown

Stat/SkillTargetFree (fixed bonuses)Free (elixirs)Trained via LPLP cost
The LP costs assume you train first and take your permanent bonuses afterwards, in batches of up to 5. The section below the calculator explains why that is cheaper.

LP Bracket Reference

How much each point of a stat/skill costs, based on its current value. Applies to Strength, Dexterity, Mana, and every weapon skill.

10 – 291 LP
30 – 592 LP
60 – 893 LP
90 – 1194 LP

How to use the calculator

Pick your guild first, since everything else depends on it. Then choose your melee and ranged weapon, set the level you expect to reach and the stats you are aiming for. The summary at the bottom tells you how many learning points (LP) the build needs and whether your level actually gives you enough of them.

If the numbers do not add up, lower a target, aim for a higher level, or put more King’s Sorrel into Strength or Dexterity elixirs. All of those elixirs come out of the same 25 plants, so every Mana elixir is one less Strength or Dexterity elixir.

How LP costs work in Night of the Raven

Every trainable stat and weapon skill follows the same price list. The more points you already have, the more each new point costs:

  • 10 to 29: 1 LP per point
  • 30 to 59: 2 LP per point
  • 60 to 89: 3 LP per point
  • 90 to 119: 4 LP per point
  • 120 and up: 5 LP per point

Taking Strength from 10 to 60 point by point costs 20 LP for the first bracket and 60 for the second, 80 LP in total. With 10 LP per level, that is eight levels for one stat.

Two things make a real difference here. The first is that the price only looks at the stat’s current value, not at where the points came from. Permanent bonuses (elixirs, plants, stews, prayers) are free and ignore the brackets completely, so it is cheapest to train with LP while the stat is still low and take the bonuses afterwards. That being said, a lot of bonuses only become available in later chapters, so you are going to have to overtrain a little now and then.

The second is batch training. Trainers let you buy up to 5 points at once, and the whole batch is charged at the bracket you are in when you start it. So going from 29 to 34 in one batch costs 5 LP instead of 9. The calculator assumes you always make use of this.

How the guilds differ

You pick your guild once, and it decides which permanent bonuses you can collect, which is why the calculator asks for it first.

  • Paladins get Neoras’ elixir (+3 Strength) and one Embarla Firgasto (+15 to Strength or Dexterity), but they miss Thekla’s first stew. They also have their own small set of runes (Holy Arrow, Banish Evil and the healing runes) instead of the Mage circles.
  • Dragonhunters do not get Neoras’ elixir, but they can brew Embarla Firgasto twice (+30 instead of +15) and they get Sergio’s +2% Two-Handed bonus. Dragon Blood (3 LP) is mandatory for their questline. No magic at all, scrolls only.
  • Fire Mages get Mana from praying at the Innos shrine instead of Strength or Dexterity, plus the Tears of Innos (+5 Strength and +5 Dexterity) and one extra Elixir of Dexterity. Each of the six magic circles costs 5 LP to open, on top of the spells themselves.

Paladins and Dragonhunters can put almost all of their LP into Strength, Dexterity and weapon skills. The Mage has to split it between Mana, circles and spells, so mage builds are usually tighter on LP.

Sharing your build

The “Share your build” button turns everything on this page into a link, herb split and spells included. If you want someone on Reddit or a Gothic forum to look over your plan, that link is the easiest way.
