The Ultimate Guide to Permanent Bonuses in Gothic 2 Night Of The Raven

In the following post, I am going to present you a comprehensive list of all permanent bonuses that you can get in Gothic 2 and how they change depending on which guild you pick, which people you take with you to Irdorath etc.

It is always important where to find each permanent bonus and how to get all the Goblin Berries, King’s Sorrels, Dragon Roots etc. and it can be very helpful to know how many bonuses you can accumulate when planning on how to design your build

Strength

+3 to +7 from apples

Every time you eat a total of 25 apples, you get +1 strength. You do not have to eat the apples in one sitting, the game always counts the amount of apples you have eaten. The reason this value is not fixed is because the amount of apples you can find on bandits, in inventories of traders etc. is not fixed. However, you can always assume that there is a minimum of 75 apples to buy, hence the minimum of +3 strength

+10 Prayer

Essentially, if you pray at one of the Innos shrines and give an offering of 100 gold, you can get a bonus of + 1 to your Strength or your Dexterity (randomly either one) once per day. You only get this bonus if you joined the Paladins, the Mercenaries or are still without a guild. Once you join the Mages you do not get it anymore, so you would need to pray for the bonus before joining the guild if you want all the points.

+22 Stone tables

Remember, you need to be able to read the tables to get the bonuses. Learning all three languages costs you a total of 30 LP and can be done by either Myxir or the hermit in Jharkendar. You can get +8 from tables in Khorinis and +14 from tables in Jharkendar.

+4 from Thekla’s Stew (+5 if you join the Mercenaries or the Mages)

Each stew gives you +1 strength. You can get them the following way:

  • Talking to Thekla after either being a Mage or having joined the Mercenaries
  • Get herbs from Sagitta for Thekla
  • Beating up Bullco
  • Freeing Bennet in Chapter 3
  • Killing the Dragons in Chapter 5

You do not get the first stew for being a Mage or a Mercenary if you joined the Paladins. Fun fact: It would be theoretically possible to talk to Thekla after you have become a full-fledged Paladin and you would get an extra stew (as if you were a Mage), but you cannot become a Paladin before freeing Bennet so you would be missing out one stew either way (netting a +4 strength again)

+39 from brewing Elixirs of Strength

The amount of Elixirs of Strength you can brew is limited by the amount of Dragon Roots in this game. There are a total of 13 Dragon Roots which can be turned into Elixirs of Strength that give +3 Strength each, netting a total of +39 Strength

Rundown of the total amount of Dragon Roots:

  • 9 to be found in Khorinis
  • 1 to be bought at Sagitta’ on Chapter 3
  • 1 to be bought at Constantino on Chapter 5
  • 1 to be bought at Milten on Chapter 6 (assuming you brought him with you)
  • 1 to be found in Irdorath on Chapter 6

+1 from Erol

Erol teaches you “how to throw a punch” if you get him the 3 stone tables that he lost from the bandit attack. You need to give him the stone tables and then talk to him once he is at his hut (next to the pond).

+12 from Elixirs of Strength that can be found or bought

  • 1 on the ship (you can get there at Chapter 1 already, have jump in and then sneak around the guards)
  • 1 to be bought at Zuris on Chapter 2
  • 1 as a quest reward from Oric on Chapter 4. You need to ask him for equipment when he gives you the quest to kill Hosh-Pak. You will get to decide between a Strength or a Dexterity Elixir.
  • 1 on Irdorath on Chapter 6

+15 from Embarla Firgasto (+30 if you are a Dragonhunter)

You will learn how to brew this Elixir on Irdorath. You will need 10 dragon eggs for it and it will either give you +15 Strength or +15 Dexterity depending on which stat is higher. There are a total of 11 eggs on Irdorath, but if you joined the Mercenaries you can get another 9 eggs on Khorinis making it a total of 20.

+5 from the Tears of Innos (only as Mage)

You will get these at Chapter 5 in the hidden library of the monastery. Only mages can drink these.

+3 from Neoras

If you give Neoras a dragon egg in Chapter 4, he will give you an elixir that gives you +3 strength. This only works if you are a Paladin or a Mage

+1 from Fire Stew

You can get this from Snaf in Jharkendar

+1 from Stew

You can get this from the cook in the bandit camp on Jharkendar

Additionally, you can get a total of +29 temporary Strength from equipping belts, amulets and rings

Total: 140-155 Strength

Dexterity

+10 Prayer

Same rules apply as above with praying for Strength

+24 from stone tables

Same rules apply as above with the Strength tables. You can get +6 from tables in Khorinis, +6 from tables in the Valley and +12 from tables in Jharkendar

+1 from Rengaru

You need to join the Thieve’s Guild and then show the sign to Rengaru. For this, you will need to let him go and not get the bounty from Lord Andre.

+51-75 from brewing your own Elixirs of Dexterity

This is different from brewing Elixirs of Strength since the amount of Goblin Berries is not the bottleneck here. For either the Elixir of Strength or Dexterity you will additionally need one King’s Sorrel. For reference, here is the total amount of Goblin Berries & King’s Sorrels you can get.

Goblinberries:

  • 12 to be found on Khorinis
  • 2 to be found in the Valley
  • 3 to be bought at Constantino’s

A random amount of Goblin Berries depending on how many spawn in the inventories (either through looting or trading) of Paladins. There are a couple of dead Paladins in the Valley as well as Paladin merchants that could have these. Additionally, you could theoretically beat up every Paladin in the game and check their inventory for Goblin Berries if you do not care for immersion. You could theoretically get as many as 20 Berries this way.

King’s Sorrels:

  • 11 to be found on Khorinis
  • 1 as a reward from Vatras for delivering a letter on Chapter 2
  • 2 to be found in Jharkendar
  • 4 to be bought at Constanino’s (1x Chapter 3, 1x Chapter 4, 2x Chapter 5)
  • 3 to be bought at Sagitta’s (1x Chapter 2, 1x Chapter 4, 1x Chapter 5)
  • 1 to be bought from Lutero (Chapter 5)
  • 1 to be bought from Milten (Chapter 6, if you take him with you)
  • 1 to be bought from Vatras (Chapter 6)

+15 from bought or found Elixirs of Dexterity

  • 1 Finger’s chest in the sewers
  • 1 in one of the caves around Onar’s Farm (where you head to with Fester)
  • 1 behind Sekob’s Farm around the small Bandit camp
  • 1 to be bought from Salandril on Chapter 3
  • 1 as a quest-reward from Oric (see above)

+15 from Embarla Firgasto (30 as Dragonhunter)

Same as with the strength, see above.

+5 from drinking the Tears of Innos as Mage (same as with Strength)

Additionally, you can get a total of +30 temporary Dexterity from equipping belts, rings and amulets.

Total: 160-200 Dexterity

Mana

+20 from Prayer

Works the same as above with Strength and Dexterity. However, if you become a Mercenary you will forfeit this Mana bonus. If you are guildless, you first need to pray for all Strength and Dexterity points and only then will get the mana as a secondary reward. If you join the Mages you will get the Mana immediately (see above)

+2 from reading the Divine Power of the Stars

You can buy it either from Zuris or Constantino

+2 from Coragon’s Beer

You’ll get +1 Mana and +3 Life per beer. You get one for returning his stolen silverware and one for giving him Lehmar’s Book.

+2 from donating to Daron (not as a Mage)

As long as you have not become a Mage yet, you can donate gold in steps of 50 per donation to Daron and he will give you various bonuses with his blessings, among them +2 Mana.

+42 from stone tables

  • +30 from tables in Khorinis
  • +4 from tables in the Valley
  • +8 from tables in Jharkendar

+50 from Dark Mushrooms

Every time you eat 50 Dark Mushrooms you gain +5 Mana. Works the same as with apples. You can find around 180 mushrooms on Khorinis, 90 in the Valley and 230 in Jharkendar. This number is not fixed either, since various NPCs and goblins can drop mushrooms. Also, some merchants can have them in their trade-inventory.

+3 from Essence of the Spirit

You can find this one in the House of the Scholars in Jharkendar

+125 from brewing Elixirs of the Spirit

As with Strength and Dexterity Elixirs, you will need to use King’s Sorrels for this one. You will also need Fireroots but you can find plenty of those in the game. For the total amount of King’s Sorrels see above.

+25 from bought or found Elixirs of Dexterity (+30 as Mage)

  • 1 in the Valley (inside the Stonehenge-like structure)
  • 1 if you pickpocket Milten in Chapter 2 (only then), you will need a minimum of 80 Dex for that
  • 2 to be bought from Zuris in Chapter 3 and 4
  • 1 to be found in Irdorath
  • 1 if you become a Mage on your bed in your new private quarters

+28 from giving old stone tables to Vatras

You can find 28 old stonetables and give these to Vatras. Remember that if you give 3 to Erol for the +1 Strength Bonus, you will only get +25 Mana.

+3 from Vatras after freeing the slaves in Jharkendar

+1 from Lou’s Hammer

Snaf will give you the recipe for this drink. You will get +1 Mana once for drinking it

Additionally, you can get a total of +60 temporary Mana from the amulet and ring set that you can find in Jharkendar, along with the staff that Gorax sells you (+20).

Maximum Life

+205 from stone tables

  • +125 from tables in Khorinis
  • +25 in the Valley
  • +55 in Jharkendar

+85 from donating to Daron

As explained above, donating to Daron gives you various bonuses, among them a total of +85 maximum life.

+500 from brewing Elixirs of Life

Same as above with the other Elixirs. The bottleneck is again the amount of King’s Sorrels you can find. Brewing these is however not advisable due to the amount of maximum life you can get in other ways.

+100 from finding or buying Elixirs

Each Elixir gives +20 maximum life. You can buy one from Erol in Chapter 1, find one in Jharkendar, buy one from Zuris on Chapter 5 and find 2 in Irdorath

+5 from Fire Stew

See above

+6 from Coragon’s Beer

See above

+Infinite from praying

Once you have exhausted the praying bonuses like Strength, Dexterity and Mana you will get +3 maximum life for donating 100 Gold to Innos (you can get +2 for donating 50 and +1 for donating 10 from the beginning). Since there is no time limit in this game, you could potentially sleep and pray as long as you want (or have gold for) for more life.

Additionally, you can get a total of 160 temporary maximum life from the amulet and ring set that you can find in Jharkendar.
